ERP/mid and back-office

Customer story: Webjet Group

Webjet Group achieves scalable efficiency and automation with TravelOperations + Microsoft Dynamics 365

The story in short

After a long period of rapid growth and increasing complexity, Webjet needed a modern ERP solution to unify operations, improve efficiency, and support innovation. They were essentially looking for a system that would help minimize manual tasks and free time for value-added activities.

“With TravelOperations and D365, we’ve consolidated systems, automated key processes, and laid the foundation for scalable growth.” – Layton Shannos, Group CFO

About Webjet Group

Webjet Group is a digital travel organization headquartered in Australia, listed on the ASX (WJL), operating globally across multiple brands. As the parent company of Webjet OTA, Airport Rentals, Motorhome Republic, and travel tech company Trip Ninja, Webjet delivers travel solutions enhanced by smart, scalable technology.

The challenge

Webjet had outgrown its legacy ERP system. As the business evolved and expanded its global reach, it became clear that the existing solution could no longer scale to meet increasing demands. Manual processes, disconnected systems, and a lack of automation were slowing operations.

Webjet sought a cloud-based ERP platform that would enable:

  • Greater automation and efficiency
  • Flexibility to adapt quickly to a changing travel environment
  • Scalability to support ongoing growth
  • Compliance with evolving regulatory and security standards

Upgrading our ERP was a strategic step to support continued innovation and set the business up for future growth

Layton Shannos, Group CFO

The solution

Following a comprehensive evaluation of ERP providers, Webjet selected TravelOperations – powered by Microsoft Dynamics 365.

“We were looking for a solution that could support the unique aspects of our existing processes, while also offering the flexibility to adapt as the business evolves. TravelOperations stood out for its ability to balance both — accommodating current operational needs and enabling future scalability through configurable features rather than custom development.” – Layton Shannos, Group CFO

Key factors in the decision included:

  • Strong alignment with existing workflows
  • Flexible and configurable platform without heavy custom development
  • API capabilities for seamless integration
  • Unified cloud platform that supports all business units

What set TravelOperations apart was their clear understanding of our business and their thorough knowledge of travel. They were truly committed and were the ideal partner to support Webjet’s digital transformation long-term.

The impact

The ERP implementation took nine months from start to go-live, during which Webjet worked closely with TravelOperations to align the platform with operational needs and ensure a smooth transition.

With TravelOperations + D365 in place, Webjet has transformed its finance and operational backbone.

  • All business units now operate on a single platform, improving alignment and visibility
  • Manual data entry has been eliminated, freeing teams to focus on value-added work
  • Month-end processes have been streamlined, resulting in significant time savings
  • Reconciliation workflows have been automated, including credit card customer reconciliation—saving time every week
  • The system easily scales, enabling the business to manage growing volumes without increased overhead
  • Real-time financial reporting has improved decision-making across teams

Since implementing TravelOperations with D365, we’ve eliminated manual processes by integrating mid and back-office systems, aligning financials across all business units on a single platform. Previously, teams spent considerable time on manual data entry and consolidating information, which was prone to delays and errors. Now, with all business units operating on the same platform, end-of-month processes are much simpler. Real-time financial reporting allows teams to shift their focus from manual tasks to more value-added activities.
